Whist out exploring the Pyrénées after a spring snowfall I watched figures walking, silhouetted against the snow, across the lower slopes. My eye was also caught by the shape of the mountains and the high tone of the scene contrasting with the figures and the trees. I drew the scene and painted it back in the studio.
