I sketched this group of buildings from three or four view points. From this aspect it was the gable end, the chimneys (particularly the long exposed flue pipe) and the posts emphasized by the low view point that caught my attention. The poppies and grasses in the foreground I painted in loosely to avoid drawing attention away from the areas of my main interest.
