I wanted to paint this group of buildings against a bright sky but I was also drawn to the stony textures of the wall and the rough stones and grassy texture in the foreground so I produced a watercolour with a fairly quite sky, rather subdued buildings and concentrated on the textures in the foreground that I found rather exciting.
