It was the way these farm buildings tumbled down the hillside with the foreground textures that fascinated me when I first saw and sketched this scene. When I painted it I was particularly anxious to show these textures and put them in using Indian ink, some of which was left to dry and some of which was washed away whilst it was still wet.
