Sheeting rain obscured the view of this approach to Skye but I just had to get the mountain profiles and the generalities of the buildings in the sketch book. This simple watercolour was painted using a very limited pallet, a combination of very wet washes applied over pale dried washes, washing out some dried washes and dry brush work over the sea.The very wet wash that ran down the paper enabled me to introduce into the painting the rain that dominated the scene when I first saw it.
