I sketched this farm and the landscape many years ago and decided that I would paint it so as to bring out the textures in the moorland as well as the highlights on the dry limestone walls which I scratched in to reveal the white of the paper. I particularly enjoyed painting in the warm colour on the gillet of the figure in the middle distance using pure burnt sienna.
