When deciding to paint this picture I particularly wanted to concentrate on the cliff with its rocks, textures and grasses as well as the chimneys with their pots that seemed to dance across the roofs of the buildings. With this in mind I generally subdued the buildings but introduced the colour into the roofs to give interest and a focus to the painting.
