My eye had been caught by the light on the tower of St John the Baptist’s church far away across the fields, just after the harvest. When finally the rains came at the beginning of September the light on the church tower and the threatening dark skies resulted in a watercolour that was dominated by the huge Fenland sky, the harvested fields and the group of buildings huddled around the church.
