I drew these boats many years ago on the south coast of England and recently stumbled across the sketch whilst browsing though old sketchbooks. I did not make a note of of the colours of the scene at the time I sketched it but I looked at the sketch and decided they would make a good colour statement painted in red against the colour and texture of the beach. I hope you agree.
