363 Spring comes late to the Dordogne 38 x 16cm £150

This barn in its tumbledown state fascinated me because of its precarious structure and the way it had been patched over the years in true French tradition of perpetual repair. I painted it with the self sown trees growing out of its crevices and balanced the composition by changing the landscape and the position of nearby buildings to where I wanted them to be. When I visited the following year the barn had fallen down!
