Whilst cogitating about my next subject I liked the idea of painting a very dark toned sky. Whilst thumbing through an old sketchbook I came across a small sketch of a very dark sky over Hell's Mouth that I had drawn whilst staying in North Wales back in 1990. I used this as the inspiration for this watercolour and then added the ship and the gulls to provide added interest.
